Policies and Procedures
The main purpose of this manual is to serve as a guide to managers in informing and educating staff on the hospital's policies. These policies are applicable to employees of Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Brigham and Women's Physician Organization. Additionally, these policies apply to employees who are subject to a collective bargaining agreement unless the stated policy conflicts with specific provisions in their collective bargaining agreement.
These policies have been written with a number of objectives in mind:
To support the hospital's mission, vision and values.
To provide equitable and consistent treatment of all employees.
To comply with city, state and federal laws.
To provide a favorable quality of work life for all employees.
Additionally, these policies are designed to provide a work environment where all staff feel welcomed, respected and supported regardless of any individual differences.
The administration of these policies is the responsibility of each manager. We depend on managers to promote a productive, legal and harmonious working environment for all staff.
Human Resources is available for assistance in applying or interpreting any of the policies.
The contents of this manual are presented as a matter of information and general guidance only. The manual is intended to provide guidelines for managers and staff. It is not intended to constitute a contract between the hospital and employees. While it is the intent of the hospital to consistently follow the guidelines described in this manual, the hospital reserves the right to decide not to apply any particular policy in a given situation. The hospital reserves the right to change any of these policies at any time, without notice. All policies are regularly reviewed to ensure continued compliance with laws, regulations and hospital standards.
