Quality Group
About Our Group
The quality group is responsible for quality data collection, analysis, and reporting throughout Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). The majority of the data we collect and analyze is shared with external organizations including:
- Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
- Leapfrog Group
- University HealthSystem Consortium
- Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine
- Massachusetts Department of Public Health
- Massachusetts Hospital Association (MHA)
- Massachusetts Hospital Quality Project
- American College of Cardiology's National Cardiovascular Data Registry
- National Surgical Quality Improvement Project
- Society of Thoracic Surgeons Adult Cardiac Surgery Database
- Vermont Oxford Network
- National Registry of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS)
In addition to publicly reported quality data, the quality group also supplies outcomes data to the Decision Support Systems group in order to create internal quality measures. These measures are used by many departments throughout BWH. The quality group also works collaboratively with other CCE groups assisting with patient safety and process improvement initiatives as necessary. Some of the projects led by the quality group include the reporting of Core Measures data to CMS, the analysis of a rapid response team, and the review of all stroke cases at BWH.
