Dr. Ukomadu received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University in 1993. He trained in Internal Medicine (1993-1996) and then sub-specialized in Gastroenterology (1996-2000) at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Following completion of his clinical fellowship year, he served as Chief Medical Resident of the Department of Medicine from 1997-1998. In 1998, supported by the Institutional NRSA, a Minority Faculty Development Award from the BWH Department of Medicine and a Howard Hughes Post-doctoral fellowship, Dr. Ukomadu entered the laboratory of Dr. Anindya Dutta where he studied the molecular mechanisms governing the activation of cyclin dependent kinases. Dr Ukomadu became an independent investigator in 2003 and his current research focuses on the cell cycle regulation of liver regeneration. His work is funded by research grants from the National Institutes of Health.
