Corss Sectional Interventional Radiology (CSIR)

Interventional radiology involves the medical practice of percutaneous procedures guided by the imaging sciences. The Cross Sectional Interventional Radiology (CSIR) performs biopsies of tumors and tissues , needle aspiration, and catheter drainages of fluid collections throughout the body using cross-sectional imaging modalities (ultrasound, computed tomography and MRI).
Within CSIR, the Tumor Ablation Program performs percutaneous ablations, using both cryoablation and radiofrequency, under imaging guidance of tumors throughout the body. Including the lung, liver, kidney, adrenal gland, bones. and soft-tissues. The Tumor Ablation Program also works in concert with the Radiology Department's National Center for Image-guided Therapy (NCIGT), a multidisciplinary effort to develop new forms of minimally invasive therapy guided by advanced imaging techniques.
