Letter from the Chairman
We are pleased to announce that Richard A. Baum, MD, Chief, Division of Angiography and Interventional Radiology, has been appointed the Herbert L. Abrams Director of Angiography and Interventional Radiology within the Department of Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
The appointment of Dr. Baum further strengthens and elevates Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a world-class leader in the field of angiography and interventional radiology.
Prior to his appointment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Baum was an attending interventional radiologist and an associate professor of radiology and surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He has received numerous awards and honors for his research and work in the area of diagnostic angiography and interventional radiology and has served as a visiting professor at many universities and academic medical centers in this country and abroad. In addition, he has authored over 100 journal articles and book chapters and has been the principal investigator on numerous peer-reviewed grants. He is a recognized authority on endovascular aneurysm repair and has recently edited his second book on this topic.
Since his appointment at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Baum has been actively involved in expanding the research, teaching and clinical role of this very important subspecialty of radiology. He designed the newly expanded Division of Angiography and Interventional Radiology facilities, established an Interventional Clinic where patients are evaluated and followed before and after procedures, and has recruited new faculty and fellows.
