Dr. Peter Libby, Chief of the BWH Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, was appointed to the Executive Board of the International Chair on Cardiometabolic Risk (ICCR). The ICCR is an independent organization developed to respond to the soaring rates of abdominal obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease worldwide. The ICCR involves a group of 23 experts focused on why patients with excess intra-abdominal (visceral) fat are at increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
The ICCR’s website is a key component of its work. The website is the most comprehensive, up-to-date, and easy-to-use source of information on abdominal obesity and cardiometabolic risk. Built for both health professionals and the general public, it helps visitors better understand the risk factors that must be addressed and the lifestyle changes that must be made in order to prevent abdominal obesity, type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The ICCR’s website is highly interactive and features free slides, webcasts and videos.
The ICCR also publishes the CMR eJournal, which is available through its website. The eJournal provides up-to-date information, key research findings and in-depth papers on abdominal obesity and related cardiometabolic risk.
