Do not use lithium heparin tubes as they can be toxic to cells and reduce the probability of a successful result.
For chromosome analysis:

Infant, 1-2 mL blood

Child, 1-3 mL blood

Adult, 5-10 mL blood
For FISH Fluorescent in-situ hybridization:

Infant additional 1-2 mL blood

Child additional 1-3 mL blood

Adult additional 5-10 mL blood
