Chromosome analysis and FISH

Fetal tissue: send skin or lung tissue.

Placenta: call the Cytogenetics Laboratory for protocol, 617-732-7981.

Chorionic villi: float choice specimen in saline, gently agitate tissue in petri dish to loosen villi from the (maternal) decidua.

Place specimen in sterile saline or in a Falcon #3033 tube containing Hanks Balanced Salt Solution and Gentimycin.

Same day shipments of tissue specimens should be kept at room temperature.

Overnight shipments of tissue specimens should be refrigerated.
