BWH Conferences and Didactic Lectures
During their clinical rotations, fellows participate in a series of lectures and conferences. These provide the opportunity to (1) prepare and present cases for discussion, (2) review the relevant medical literature for self-learning and presentation to the faculty and fellows, (3) attend lectures provided by local and national experts on topics which range from basic endocrinology to recent research findings related to endocrinologic investigation. The following is a description of the weekly conferences in the Endocrinology Division.
Case Discussion Conference
Fellows prepare 1-2 cases for weekly discussion by permanent or weekly faculty from among the patients recently evaluated on the inpatient or outpatient services at Brigham and Women's Hospital. Typically, patients are presented whose problems pose interesting or difficult diagnostic or therapeutic decision making. During the discussion, the presenting fellow also briefly presents the essential literature relevant to the topic.
