THE EUROPEAN EPP GROUP
If you remember, in the past we have published short notes from EPP people from Holland. The Dutch group led by Mrs. Hanneke Albertz-van der Lugt, and the Swiss group, led by psychologist Dr. Elizabeth Anna Rufener, both of whom have EPP, have started a European EPP group, which is publishing an annual newsletter. If you want to receive the newsletter, contact Dr. Rufener at Baltensweilerstrasse 28, CH-8303 Bassersdorf, Switzerland. They publish articles in different languages in the Newsletter.
MORE ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHES
The Solar Protective Factory, which has a web site at www.solarweave.com, and offices at 515 Maple Ave., Wilmette, IL 60091 (847-853-3500) and at 3469 Quail Haven Lane, Carmichael, CA 95608 (916-944-2387), but no 800 number, makes a fabric which is sun- protective. They also have sold their fabric to many clothes manufacturers. You can check their web site to see which clothes makers use their fabrics, and then check with the makers as to which of their actual clothes lines use the sun-protective fabrics.
MORE ON SUNSCREENS
One EPPREF member wrote and said he found "Banana Boat Number 8 Oil" protective, and also kept his skin moist. If you have found any particular sunscreens helpful, please let us know.
REMEMBER: when you start testing a new sunscreen, use your regular precautions, but treat a small part of an arm or your hand with the cream and expose it to the sun for the time you know you would get a reaction. If you find that the cream prevents the reaction, then you can try treating and exposing a larger part of you. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER-EXPOSE YOURSELF! Because EPP varies so much in severity from person to person, some may find that various sunscreens (and for that matter sun-protective clothes) are really beneficial, and some may not. So it is worthwhile trying new protective products - but keep in mind that they may or may not work for you.
--------------------
Disclaimer - one time a reader accused EPPREF of receiving money from a company to mention a product - please be assured that EPPREF and Dr. Roth do NOT receive any funds from any sunscreen or protective clothes makers! We list these products in EPPREF NEWS either because an EPP person has told us they work for them, or because the product has a theoretical basis for perhaps working. As stated above, we also do not - and cannot - claim that they will work - each person really has to try them to see if they will work for him or her.
