To minimize concern about your hospital bill, pre-admission staff from the Sharf Admitting Center will confirm financial arrangements for your planned procedure. If you are a member of a managed care plan, you may require a second surgical opinion or prior approval in advance of your scheduled surgery. Please check with your health insurance company regarding the specific requirements for your plan. Our staff will notify you of any information they need to make these arrangements.
Brigham and Women’s Hospital provides a certain amount of services free or at a reduced charge to individuals who cannot afford to pay for medical care. Free care or partially free care is available to Massachusetts residents who meet the guidelines, are not receiving Medicaid and either:
-
have no health insurance;
-
have health insurance that requires large deductibles and co-payments; or
-
have health insurance that does not cover a specific illness, injury or condition.
If you have any concerns about paying for all or part of your medical care, please call the Sharf Admitting Center at (617) 732-7450.
