To avoid losing any important belongings during your hospital stay, please bring only what you need. This might include:
- a list of your current medications;
- toiletries;
- nightclothes, bathrobe and slippers;
- a book or magazines;
- insurance cards;
- a copy of your advance directives (living will/health care proxy);
- a small amount of money for newspapers and other small purchases.
You will receive an admission kit that contains a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap, body lotion, denture container and mouthwash. You will also be given green patient belonging bags and pouches so that you may easily transport your clothes, toiletries, eyeglasses, etc. as you make your way though the hospital during your stay. Please label eyeglasses, hearing aids or similar items with your name before placing them in the green bag or pouch.
We advise that you leave large amounts of cash, all jewelry, unnecessary charge cards, checkbooks, personal papers and other personal valuables at home. Also, please bring only the medications that your doctor instructs you to bring. The hospital cannot be responsible for your personal belongings. Please ask family members or friends to takeyour personal belongings home.
If you do bring valuables, you must put them in a patient valuables envelope, which is deposited for safekeeping at the cashier's office in the Main Lobby. You may deposit your valuables Monday through Friday, 7:15 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. At other times, your admitting officer or nurse will deposit your valuables for you.
