Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC) and Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center (DF/BWCC) are pleased to announce a collaboration to provide the finest and most advanced care. In January 2008, Community Cancer Care became the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center at Milford Regional Medical Center and it now occupies the second floor of the building across from the main hospital campus. Brigham and Women's Physician Organization and MRMC occupy the first floor and provide radiation oncology and imaging services. Your care is coordinated and provided in this new location by the same physicians, nursing and administrative staff. Below are answers to questions you may have about how the change may affect your care.
What is the new name of the cancer center? Why did the change happen?
The new cancer center is called "Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center at Milford Regional Medical Center." Milford Regional Medical Center is an excellent community teaching hospital providing the best possible care for all our patients in a community setting. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, in partnership with Brigham and Women's Hospital, is an internationally renowned and highly respected comprehensive cancer center providing cutting edge cancer care and improving our knowledge base through clinical trials and basic research. Combining the resources of these institutions is an opportunity to enhance the overall care for our patients while preserving the goals and values of both institutions in a community setting.
Is the new cancer center too busy and crowded now that additional DF/BWCC patients come here?
The clinic in the new cancer center is more than triple the size of the previous infusion area. This enables us to care for additional people in a more comfortable setting. We can increase our staff as needed in order to continue to provide the highest quality patient care. We also have a nutritionist, social worker, and other supportive care services available in the cancer center to enhance patient care.
What services are in the building and who provides them?
Within the new cancer center, Dana-Farber, MRMC, and Brigham and Women's Hospital provide services for our patients. Dana-Farber provides the medical oncology services, Brigham and Women's provides radiation oncology services, and Milford Regional Medical Center operates the imaging suite.
Am I an MRMC or Dana-Farber patient? Is my insurance still accepted at the new cancer center?
The new cancer center has three clinical entities (mentioned above) treating our patients. All patients seen for medical oncology (the new infusion suite) are Dana-Farber patients. When you are seen in the imaging suite, you are a MRMC patient, and if you are seen for radiation oncology treatments, you are a BWH patient. Yes, your insurance is accepted at the new cancer center.
Does my MRMC patient ID number stay the same with the changes?
Your MRMC number stays the same, but you now also receive a Dana-Farber patient number as well.
Is parking still the same?
Most parking options remain the same with additional new parking in front of the cancer center. We hope to be able to offer valet parking as well.
