The PVD program seeks to enhance the lives of patients with pulmonary vascular disease by providing the highest level of clinical care, providing advanced training opportunities for physicians and other health care providers, and participating in both clinical and bench-top research in pulmonary vascular disease.
The program cares for a large and growing population of patients with pulmonary vascular disease and all forms of pulmonary hypertension, including chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Care is provided in an integrated manner that includes communication with all referring physicians, inpatient management, including critical care, right heart catheterization, cardiopulmonary exercise tests, pulmonary function tests, and radiographic studies and echocardiograms. The program also provides outpatient management and long-term follow-up of pulmonary hypertension patients that includes the initiation and maintenance of drug therapies, monitoring disease progression, and the management of patients with advanced disease and/or those awaiting transplant.
