Resident Application/Interview Process
The Children’s/Brigham and Women’s Hospitals/Harvard Medical School Neurological Surgery Residency Training Program has had an unexpected opening. The program needs to fill a senior level resident position immediately. All interested applicants should email Cynthia O’Donnell, Residency Program Coordinator at codonnell7@partners.org with their curriculum vitae.
The program participates in the Neurosurgical Matching Program; interested candidates should submit an application through the ERAS/NRMP. Each year, faculty reviews all applications, and approximately 25 candidates are selected for interviews. Candidates are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible, and applications are generally not considered after all interview slots are filled. Strong candidates demonstrate a commitment to academic neurosurgery (clinical and basic science) and the ability to work as a team.
The interview process is a two-day activity. The interview dates are the following:
Wednesday and Thursday - November 19, 2008 and November 20, 2008
Wednesday and Thursday - December 10, 2008 and December 11, 2008
The general schedule for each interview session includes:
Day 1
| 1:00pm - 1:45pm | Candidates Arrive |
| 2:00pm - 3:00pm | Overview (Chairman/Program Director) Presentation |
| 3:00pm - 4:00pm | Tour of Facilities |
| 4:00pm - 7:00pm | Interviews |
| 7:30pm | Dinner with Residents |
Day 2

After the interviews are completed, the faculty will meet and discuss all applicants, and a ranking list will be generated, from which two (2) will be matched as residents for the upcoming year. The Residency Program in Neurological Surgery at Harvard Medical School / Brigham & Women's Hospital / Children's Hospital Boston does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race and ethnic orientation.
