Mr. and Mrs. William Lydon
Dear Bill and Jill,
On behalf of the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Brigham and Women’s Hospital we want to thank you for your overwhelming support and appreciation of the care provided to Kelsie by our skilled NICU medical team. We appreciate your energy and efforts in organizing a golf tournament to benefit the NICU in order to “continue the miracles.”
We were safely holding your check in the amount of $2,000 in our files while our Purchasing Department investigated new vendors to supply us with kangaroo chairs, which they have done with success. As you know, these chairs are used during those special moments when parents hold their baby “skin to skin” to accelerate bonding and stimulate responses. Happily, your contribution will make it possible for more parents to participate in this joyful experience. In addition, we have also been investigating the best deal on a digital camera for providing parents with those pictures that greet them on special occasions. It is our hope that the upcoming holiday cards can be produced through this method, again made possible by your generous contribution.
Thank you once again for sponsoring the tournament with designated proceeds to the Brigham and Women’s NICU. The needs of the NICU are ongoing and quite expensive, and always exceed departmental budgets. It is through thoughtful and generous efforts from “Friends of the NICU” that make additional equipment and furnishings possible.
We are so pleased to learn of Kelsie’s healthy and happy condition two years after her days in the NICU. The love and care that the two of you and other family members have provided her is the other part that “continues the miracle” and sustains life.
Sincerely,
Steven A. Ringer, M.D., Ph.D. Marianne Metcalfe, R.N., M.S.N.
