Primary research interests:
My research focuses on the epidemiologic study of the etiology and prevention of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. My current research activities include: 1) nutritional factors for risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, with particular emphasis on trace elements and antioxidants (e.g. magnesium, vitamin E, and flavonoids); 2) biochemical and genetic biomarkers of endogenous sex hormones and risk of type 2 diabetes; 3) biochemical and genetic biomarkers of adipokines and risk of type 2 diabetes; 4) design, methodology, and conduct of conventional and Bayesian-based meta-analysis for synthesizing evidence from results of case-control and cohort studies, and randomized trials.
