Resident Research
Radiology residents are required to participate in a research project. Projects are wide-ranging and can include basic science research, clinical research, education-based projects, information-technology projects, or health care policy or medical administration projects.
Research time is not allowed in the first eight months of the program when the residents are rotating through core rotations in preparation for call. First year residents rotate through a Selective block where they are required to initiate a quality assurance research project and are given time for remediation, if needed. In addition, dedicated research time can be requested, though many residents complete research projects without specifically designated research time. To obtain research time, a defined research project must be submitted and cosigned by a mentor/investigator who is a member of the faculty of the Department of Radiology (additional co-investigators within or outside of our department may be part of the research team).
Brigham and Women’s Radiology is proud of several past and current residents who have been recognized at the national level for their research efforts. See the Residents Accomplishments page for details.
