Catherine Racowsky, PhD, HCLD
Dr. Catherine Racowsky is Director of the ART Laboratory at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts and an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Harvard Medical School. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Zoology at the University of Oxford, she received her Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from the University of Cambridge in England and did post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School, first with Dr. Koji Yoshinaga, and then with Dr. John Biggers. She is a peer-reviewer for numerous journals in reproductive medicine and is currently an Associate Editor for Human Reproduction and Fertility and Sterility. She has served on several professional committees including the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) Executive Council and the International Taskforce for Stem Cell Research. She was the 2006 President of the New England Fertility Society and is currently Secretary of the ASRM Board and a member of the ASRM Practice Committee that writes all the guidelines, and educational and technical bulletins for the field of reproductive medicine. Dr. Racowsky’s research interests include environmental factors affecting egg quality, the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying oocyte maturation in vivo and in vitro, and methodologies for assessing human embryo developmental competency. She has authored over 60 peer-reviewed papers on various aspects of mammalian oocyte and embryo physiology, and has published several news releases and book chapters. She has been an invited speaker at numerous regional, national and international ART meetings as well as at several government oversight committees.
Katharine Jackson, BS, ELD
Kathy is the Technical Director of the ART Laboratory and is certified by the American Board of Bioanalysts to direct an embryology laboratory (ELD). She completed her B.S. degree at the University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth and has been an embryologist in our IVF unit since its inception in 1983. Kathy wrote a computerized database that we use for quality assurance and research projects and in 1996, she received a prize poster award at the annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine for this database. While Kathy is actively involved in research, her major contribution to the clinic is managing the daily operational needs of the clinical laboratory.
Aida Nureddin, PhD
Dr. Nureddin is an embryologist and Instructor in the Department of OB/GYN at Harvard Medical School. She graduated with a BS degree from the University of Missouri, received her PhD in Biochemistry from Vanderbilt University and did her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge. Aida is responsible for overseeing our freezing methodologies, embryo biopsy fixation and spearheads new methods development. She joined our team in 1987 and has over 20 years experience as an embryologist.
Kerry Kelleher, BS
Kerry is a senior, micro-trained embryologist proficient in all aspects of clinical embryology including ICSI and Assisted Hatching. She completed her B.S. degree at the University of Massachusetts in North Dartmouth. She has been an embryologist since 1996, and became a member of our team in 2002. Kerry also contributes to the entering of clinical data of patient cycles and SART registry.
Gena Ratiu, MD
Dr. Ratiu is a senior, micro-trained embryologist who is proficient in all aspects of embryology including ICSI, Assisted Hatching, PGD biopsy, and cell fixing. She completed her MD degree at the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. She has worked in infertility since 1990, starting at University of Washington with Dr. Charles Muller, Ph.D, and continuing her training under the invaluable direction of Dr. Mary Forster, Ph.D at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. Gena joined the Brigham team in 2004, when she relocated to Boston, MA.
Liben Zhu, MD
Dr. Zhu received his BS and MD degrees from Bejing University. Liben specializes in PGD biopsy, cell fixing, clinical andrology, mouse microinjection, as well as animal surgery.
Beverly Decoste, BS
Beverly received her BS degree at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. She currently works as a clinical technologist on our team, specializing in andrology and culture-media preparation. Beverly joined our team in 2004.
Christine Sullivan, BS
Christine is a senior, micro-trained embryologist who completed her degree at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. While studying pre-veterinary medicine, she worked in the animal lab on campus experimenting with in vitro fertilization and embryo transfers. Discovering her love of reproductive science early on, she continued her work with people. She has been in the embryology and assisted reproductive technology field since 1995, and joined our team in 2007.
“Lydia” Hualin Shi MD, MS
Dr. Shi received her MD degree from Nanjing Medical University, China. She gained experience as a clinical embryologist while she was a research fellow at Ohio State University Hospital in 1990 and then obtained her Masters of Science in Embryology and Andrology from The Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2005. Lydia is a senior, micro-trained embryologist and has been a member of our team since 2006.
Courtney McAulay, BA in Biology
Courtney is a senior embryologist who obtained her degree in biology from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts. She has been in the field since 200, and joined out team in 2006. She contributes in the data entry of patient cycles and also has a part in the data entry for the SART registry.
Berhan Bogale, BS
Berhan received his BA in Political Science from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia in 1998. He then came to the United Sates and earned a second degree, a BS in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts, Boston in 2005. Berhan specializes in andrology, and mouse QC. He has been a member of our team since 2006.
Joseph Politch, PhD
Dr. Politch received his PhD degree from Temple University, and specializes in andrology. He also is a research associate professor at Boston University School of Medicine, where he conducts research in the area of reproductive immunology. Joe has more than 25 years experience in the field and joined our team in 1986.
Azmin Kahriman, BS
Azmin graduated with honors as a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. Originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azmin contributes to the cultural diversity of our team, of which he has been a member since 2008. He specializes in andrology.
Amanda Muncer, BS
Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas State University. She joined our team in January, 2009 and is becoming skilled in andrology, culture dish preparation, lab supply stocking, as well as mouse QC.
