Welcome to the Brigham and Women's Primary Care Practice-Based Research Network website. The mission of the research network is to create and promote a community of primary care clinicians and investigators collaborating in scholarly activity to improve the practice and outcomes of primary care.
About the BWPC PBRN
The Brigham and Women's Primary Care Practice-Based Research Network (BWPC PBRN) is one of 143 PBRNs nationally certified by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). The BWPC PBRN is a network of 15 hospital-based practices, community-based practices, and community health centers affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The network includes nearly 145 primary care physicians and about 20 nurse practitioners and physician assistants that care for approximately 150,000 patients. Many of our practices serve as training sites for residents and medical students. All of our practices use a common electronic health record and data system.
The BWPC PBRN works with clinicians and researchers from many disciplines to identify pressing research questions of interest, design rigorous and relevant studies, execute research effectively, and translate findings rapidly into practice. The network endeavors to bridge the divide between researchers and clinicians to the benefit of researchers, clinicians, the work in question, our staff, and our patients. Since its inception, the network has supported both patient and physician participation in research projects on a variety of topics.
In 2012, the Brigham and Women's Primary Care Practice-Based Research Network was selected for a Partners in Excellence Award for Leadership and Innovation.
Looking to conduct research, quality improvement, or scholarly projects?
The BWPC PBRN can help connect you to the people and resources you need. To begin the process of receiving a letter of support, the BWPC PBRN asks investigators interested in engaging our practices, clinicians, or patients to submit a Preliminary Proposal Application. Once we receive your Preliminary Proposal Application, it generally takes the BWPC PBRN Steering Committee 2 weeks to evaluate, score, discuss, and respond to investigators.
We would be pleased to talk with you about your project. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
