A Message from the Division Chief
Michael Belkin, M.D.

Welcome to the Divison of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery's Research Web Site. The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery maintains an active research program that encompasses clinical trials, outcome assessment, and basic investigations in vascular disease.
Following a long tradition of innovation in peripheral bypass surgery, we are the lead site for a multicenter, prospective, randomized clinical trial of a novel genetic therapy designed to improve the long term function of vein bypass grafts in legs. |
|
The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery actively participate in ongoing clinical trials of new devise technology for the treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, ensuring that the latest options are available to patients who may be at increased risk for open surgery. Assessment of outcomes following surgical treatment of aneurysms, lower extremity occlusive disease, and carotid disease have helped define standards of care in the field.
Finally, basic laboratory investigations focused on the genetic re-engineering of bypass vein grafts, the pathogenesis of bypass graft failure, and the etiology of aneurysm disease round out the research portfolio of the division. I invite you to learn more about our faculty research and research training opportunities. |
