The Boston Marathon is the oldest annual marathon and a premier road racing event. The world’s top distance runners will be in town on Monday, April 19, 2010 to compete in the 114th Boston Marathon. Alongside (or slightly behind) them will be Team Brigham athletes running to raise financial support for community health programs at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
Team Brigham is a group of runners dedicated to improving the health and quality of life for low-income families in the Greater Boston area. Each member of the team commits to running the Boston Marathon and raising a minimum of $3500 to support Brigham and Women’s community health programs. The hospital’s development office assists team members with their fundraising efforts, while Fitcorp, a “Best of Boston” fitness center and Team Brigham corporate sponsor, develops a training program for the runners.
Team Brigham 2009 raised over $516,000 – an extraordinary accomplishment from 136 extraordinary marathon runners! Since 1998, Team Brigham has generously received over 1200 invitational entries from John Hancock Financial Services generating over $4.25 million to support BWH and Faulkner Hospital community health programs and initiatives. We are proud to participate in John Hancock’s Boston Marathon Non-Profit Program and are grateful for their continued commitment to our marathon program.
Whether a first-time marathoner or a running veteran, you are invited to join this group of extraordinary individuals who choose to run the Boston Marathon for more than the 26.2 mile adventure. Run for a reason with Team Brigham. Make a difference in the lives of thousands who need your help to provide basic health care for families and improve the quality of life for those less fortunate.
