- It is important to make sure that you have been adequately vaccinated prior to the transplant (i.e. pneuomococcal vaccine, flu-vaccine, etc).
- After the transplant, however, some vaccines should not be administered to patients on drugs that suppress the immune system.

- Please discuss the use of vaccines with a member of the transplant team before receiving any vaccinations.
- You will be given the flu (influenza) vaccine every year and the pneumococcal vaccine every five years in the kidney transplant clinics.
