Brigham and Women's Hospital, as a teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, has been designated as a Harvard Center of Excellence in Women's Health by the Department of Health and Human Services. This honor resulted from a collaborative effort between Harvard Medical School and its affiliated medical institutions, which include Brigham and Women's Hospital, the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Under the auspices of Harvard Medical School, its hospital teaching affiliates have made a commitment to combine their strengths and to work collaboratively on behalf of improving the health care of all women. The Center will provide innovative, community-based health care for women -- with special emphasis on the health needs of minority women -- as well as outreach, research, and education programs to further improve care.
