The Center for Gastrointestinal Motility at Brigham and Women’s Hospital provides advanced, team-based care for patients with complex esophageal, motility, and gut-brain interaction disorders.
Led by Walter W. Chan, MD, MPH, our multidisciplinary team includes expert gastroenterologists, an advanced practice provider, and a GI psychologist. We collaborate closely with specialists in pulmonology, otolaryngology (ENT), rheumatology, allergy and immunology, thoracic and general surgery, physical therapy, and nutrition to evaluate and treat a wide range of motility-related conditions.
We’re also leading research into new ways to diagnose and treat these conditions, which are becoming increasingly more common.
At the Center for Gastrointestinal Motility, patients have access to cutting-edge diagnostic testing and procedures, performed in our specialized Gastrointestinal Motility and Physiology Laboratory. This lab is led by Dr. Walter Chan and Dr. Jennifer Cai.
