To help Spanish speaking resident of the United States become citizens. The group provides a copy of the 100 questions on the citizenship test and teaches group members effective study techniques. A weekly co-ed support group for patients who are interested in learning new crafts or improving their craft skills in order to learn new ways to relieve stress. Build confidence and self-esteem, increase social supports, increase brain power, feel a sense of accomplishment, and opportunities to work on a group or individual project. No crafting experience necessary. Patients must have an outpatient psychiatrist or therapist here at BWH. 18 weeks DBT group is a compassionate type of behavioral therapy that is intended to help individuals move toward having a life that feels more meaningful and worth living. DBT targets emotional distress, interpersonal difficulties, and behavioral problems and teaches skill to cope without having to resort to self-defeating behaviors. The group is for men and women with depression, anxiety, and other psychological problems that cause emotional distress. Patients must have an outpatient psychiatrist or therapist here at BWH. Exceptions might be made for patients who are in the BWH system and have psychiatrists elsewhere but could still benefit from these groups. Weekly drop-in meeting for parents who have babies in the NICU. Open to mothers and/or fathers. Open to newly delivered parents who are still patients in CWN and have a baby in the NICU. A Valuable opportunity for parents to give each other support during this very difficult experience. It is an ongoing drop-in group with no screening required. The Lung Transplant Program offers a monthly support group and is attended by patients who are both pre- and post-lung transplant and their family members or other caregivers. The group can be an invaluable source of information and support. Each month, various members of the transplant community provide education and lead discussion about different topics related to the lung transplant progress. Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy is a innovative, 10 week program that has been clinically proven to bolster recovery from depression and prevent relapse. Through guided meditation and related mindfulness practices the group helps people work more skillfully with the painful thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations associated with depression and anxiety and other psychological problems. A support group for people with normal pressure hydrocephalus and their caregivers. It is an ongoing group, pre-registration is required and a phone or in person screening is done. The group addresses the medical and psychosocial aspects of coping with this illness after shunt surgery. We occasionally invite guest speakers. Summary of group: An interactive forum for families of NICU babies to receive information regarding the NICU and many topics that pertain to it and their child. Each session has a speaker who presents on a particular NICU topic. Parents are invited to ask questions, make comments and share their own personal experience pertaining to the topic discussed. The group gives individuals and couple who have lost infants as a result of miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death an opportunity to meet and discuss their common experiences in a supportive setting. This is a group for pregnant women who are hospitalized and have health issues, either theirs or their baby's.
