Outpatient Pharmacy FAQs

Do you sell Over-The-Counter medications?
We offer a large selection of over the counter products such as vitamins, blood pressure cuffs, testing supplies, cough and cold medications including pseudoephedrine, and first aid supplies.

What insurances do you accept?
We contract with most health insurance carriers including MassHealth and Health Safety Net.

Do you accept all prescriptions?
Prescriptions must be written by a BWH provider or for a BWH employee to be filled at one of our outpatient locations.

Who can I speak to if I have questions about my medications?
Our experienced pharmacists are more than happy to speak with you either in person or over the phone to go over any questions or concerns you have about your medications.

Can you provide information in other languages?
Currently, the pharmacy can translate your medication information in over 20 languages. We can offer Spanish translation on your prescription bottles.

Do you offer Compounded Medications?
We do not offer compounded medications at this pharmacy.

My prescription is out of refills, can you contact my doctor?
If your prescription is out of refills, we will reach out to your doctor for a prescription. We also recommend you reach out to your provider if your need is urgent.

What if my medications change?
Please call the pharmacy and let them know so we can make sure we have the most up-to-date information on hand.

Mail Order FAQs

How do I sign up for mail order?
Simply call the main campus pharmacy to speak to a pharmacy staff member and ask to be set up for mailing. Please have the following information available:

  • Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Mailing address
  • Credit card to place on file with secure encryption

How much does it cost to be part of mail order?
Our Mail Order program is free to patients during COVID19.

Can I have my prescriptions mailed to me every time?
Yes, you can have your medications mailed to you every month. If a new prescription is prescribed to you or there is a direction/dose change, you will receive a call from our pharmacy team member to offer counseling prior to shipping. Your medications must be part of Med Sync or our auto-refill program to be automatically refilled for mail order.

When and how will my prescription be mailed?
Any mailed item will be processed within 2 business days via UPS.

We do not mail the following items:

  • Schedule 2 Controlled Substances
  • Some refrigerated items
  • Over-the-counter medications unless they were requested as part of a regular prescription delivery

Can I request to have my prescription sent overnight or have a signature required?
Yes. You may have your prescription mailed overnight or require a signature for an additional fee.

What if my address, credit card or insurance information change?
Please contact us immediately and ask to speak with a pharmacy representative to update this information before your next refill.

What if my prescription is lost or damaged?
The pharmacy is not responsible for prescriptions that are lost or damaged in the mail. Replacement prescription costs will be determined by and at the discretion of the patient’s insurance carrier.
