Stereotactic Needle Biopsy

The Brigham and Women's Hospital Lee Bell Center for Breast Imaging provides stereotactic needle biopsy at the hospital main campus. A stereotactic needle biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure which collects small tissue fragments for laboratory analysis.

Our technologists and radiologists use state-of-the-art breast imaging equipment to produce high-quality images while focusing on patient safety and comfort.

If pre-authorization is required, that process will be initiated by the referring physician who ordered your mammogram.

Getting Copies of Your Images

If your imaging exam was performed at BWH or one of our community-based locations, your images and reports are saved to your electronic medical record within four hours after completion of your exam. You can get a copy of your images on a CD at the BWH Image Service Center or any of our community-based locations. You will need to complete a release form, which you can bring with you or fax prior to pick-up. You will also need to provide positive identification to receive your images.
