The Ophthalmology Service at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) provides a comprehensive resource for all disorders of the eye with care provided by Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary specialists on the medical staff at BWH. We provide inpatient consult and trauma services at BWH and outpatient services and surgery at the nearby Massachusetts Eye and Ear Longwood outpatient center in the Longwood Medical Area.
Our services include routine eye care as well as comprehensive evaluation and treatment of complex and systemic disorders.
Routine annual eye and vision exams
Common eye disorders, including glaucoma, macular degeneration, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and dry eye
Consultation services for tertiary ophthalmic care
Since July 2009, our team has provided care for patients admitted to the BWH emergency department and for the inpatient consultation service at BWH. In caring for our patients, we create working partnerships with them, their referring physicians, and the colleagues who join us in providing their care. We understand and value the role of each member of the patient care team.
Ocular trauma care provided by the emergency department at BWH coordinated by the Director of Massachusetts Eye and Ear’s Trauma Service and is supported by over 60 physicians specializing in ophthalmic care.
