The mission of Workforce Development at Brigham and Women's Hospital is to:
Engage our incumbent workforce by providing the support and tools needed to succeed in fulfilling their personal, professional, and educational potential;
Provide the youth of our community opportunities for exposure to careers in healthcare, and an introduction to the world of work through employment experiences;
Promote community engagement by developing learning and employment opportunities that are aligned with ongoing recruitment needs.
We accomplish this mission by fostering collaborative efforts with hospital managers, academic and training institutions, community organizations, and city and state agencies.
Workforce Development is a part of Organizational Effectiveness in the Human Resources department. The team is comprised of professionals with experience in career and education coaching; youth employment and community relations.
Along with the members of our community, Brigham and Women’s Hospital aims to primarily engage our entry level and middle-skilled workforce through various Workforce Development initiatives. We provide them with the support and tools they need to achieve their full personal and professional potential as a means to build the next generation of healthcare workers.
As is stated in our strategic plan, Brigham and Women’s Hospital recognizes that we are only as good as our employees. We are dedicated to creating an environment that values, supports and respects diversity. Simply put, we recognize that the employees of the BWH family are our most precious resource. BWH Workforce Development will continue to study and invest in the needs and careers of the talent we hire, train, and retain, who have the right attitude, aptitude and desire to achieve the hospital's mission and vision.
