Morse Honored as 2018 Soros Equality Fellow

Michelle Morse, MD, MPH

Michelle Morse, MD, MPH, assistant program director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program and associate physician in the Division of Global Health Equity, was selected as a 2018 Soros Equality Fellow by the Open Society Foundations for developing the Social Medicine Consortium (SMC) Campaign Against Racism.

Named after Open Society Foundations founder George Soros, this fellowship recognizes artists, advocates, journalists, health care professionals, filmmakers and organizers who share a commitment to racial justice, ideas for moving the country forward on divisive issues and the desire to lead.

Morse will develop the SMC Campaign Against Racism as a collective of individuals, universities and key stakeholders fighting for health equity through education, training, service and advocacy. The goal of the Campaign Against Racism is to dismantle structural racism and its effects on health around the world by supporting local actions, efforts and networks that aim to improve the health and lives of those most affected by racism.

The Open Society Foundations work to build vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens.
