The Brigham Research Institute (BRI) presented Pilot Funding Awards to four investigators for their projects aimed at obtaining preliminary data that will be used to apply for new funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), federal and state grantors, foundations and other granting agencies. All members of the Brigham research community were invited to apply, with priority given to junior faculty. The recipients of the fall 2018 cycle are:
- Saranna Fanning, PhD, Department of Neurology: “Evaluating Lipases as Drug Targets for Alpha-Synuclein Toxicity in Parkinson’s Disease”
- Victor Navarro, PhD, Department of Medicine: “Obesity-Induced Infertility: Targeting the Melanocortin-Kisspeptin Pathway"
- Nicholas Todd, PhD, Department of Radiology: “Targeted Delivery of Huntington’s Disease Gene Therapeutics”
- Tracy Young-Pearse, PhD, Department of Neurology: “The Contribution of Chromosome 21 Genes to Alzheimer's Disease Risk in Down Syndrome”
