Helen Christou, MD, associate chair for Research in the Department of Pediatric Newborn Medicine and the medical director of Newborn Respiratory Care, received the New England Perinatal Society (NEPS) Mentor of the Year Award in recognition of her outstanding work as a mentor to the next generation of clinicians and investigators in the field.
In her work at the Brigham, Christou focuses on acute neonatal respiratory disorders and long-term cardiorespiratory morbidities. Specifically, her current research centers on using preclinical studies to understand the pathogenesis of pulmonary vascular disease and evaluate novel interventions for it.
Founded in the 1970s, NEPS provides a forum for New England-area perinatologists and neonatologists to discuss and promote the advancement of research in perinatal biology and medicine.
