Bhatt Named AHA Distinguished Scientist

Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC


Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, executive director of Interventional Cardiovascular Programs, was awarded the designation of Distinguished Scientist by the American Heart Association (AHA) in honor of his extraordinary contributions to cardiovascular and stroke research.

Distinguished Scientists are a prominent group of scientists and clinicians whose work has importantly advanced our understanding of cardiovascular diseases and stroke. This award was created over 10 years ago to recognize AHA members for significant, original and sustained scientific contributions that have advanced the association's mission of “building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.”

Bhatt’s research interests include acute coronary syndromes, preventive cardiology and advanced techniques in cardiac, cerebral and peripheral intervention. He has authored or co-authored more than 1,250 publications. He is the editor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Invasive Cardiology and editor-in-chief of the Harvard Heart Letter for patients.
