Tracey Milligan, MD, vice chair for Education in the Department of Neurology, was honored with the 2019 Barbara J. McNeil Faculty Award for Exceptional Institutional Service, which recognizes faculty who have made exemplary contributions in service of Harvard Medical School (HMS) and/or the Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM).

Named for Barbara McNeil, MD, PhD, Ridley Watts Professor of Health Care Policy and professor of Radiology, this award was established to celebrate faculty who have set the standard for service at HMS/HSDM through their personal initiative in providing service and engaging others to do the same.

Milligan, who also serves as clinical competency director for the Partners Neurology Residency, was nominated in recognition of her lasting contributions in educating the next generation of health care professionals and for continually looking for opportunities to innovate in and expand neurology training. In addition to teaching, Milligan also serves on several instrumental committees, handles many local leadership positions and provides faculty development opportunities in small-group sessions.

More broadly in her work as a clinician and researcher, Milligan’s interests include neurologic education and simulation, transitions in care, difficult to treat seizure disorders, young adults with epilepsy and teaching in the inpatient and outpatient settings.
