DNP, RN, NEA-BC
Charles Pozner, MD

Madelyn Pearson, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, senior vice president of Clinical Services and chief nursing officer, and Charles Pozner, MD, executive director of the Neil and Elise Wallace STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation, were awarded a $200,000 grant from CRICO to facilitate an interprofessional team training program at the STRATUS Center for new employees with patient care responsibilities at the Brigham’s main campus.

Beginning in September 2020, newly hired faculty and staff who meet the criteria will participate in a two-hour training program at the STRATUS Center as part of their onboarding process. By bringing teams together, the program aims to improve communication, enhance the Brigham’s safety culture and staff satisfaction, and identify and eliminate hierarchies that impede the delivery of care.

Throughout her career, Pearson has led numerous efforts to improve quality and patient safety and reduce hospital-acquired infections. She is devoted to the pursuit of lifelong learning and supporting nurses and other clinical and professional staff in continuing their education through degree programs, certifications and other professional development opportunities.

Pozner, an emergency physician, co-founded STRATUS in 2004 a single-specialty simulation center in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Since then, he has led the center’s growth to a multidisciplinary hub that serves the entirety of the Brigham through interprofessional training and education to a wide variety of clinicians at all levels.

A leader in medical professional liability, the CRICO insurance program has protected clinicians and organizations comprising the Harvard medical community for more than 40 years.
