Schnipper Awarded Master in Hospital Medicine Designation

Jeffrey Schnipper, MD, MPH, MHM


Jeffrey Schnipper, MD, MPH, MHM, of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care and the Hospital Medicine Unit, was awarded the Master in Hospital Medicine Designation from the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM).  

The Masters in Hospital Medicine Designation honors those who have demonstrated a longstanding commitment to the principles of leadership, teamwork and quality improvement within the specialty of hospital medicine. Only 35 people have been awarded this designation by SHM in the history of the organization. Schnipper was recognized for his extensive research on improving the quality of care transitions, inpatient diabetes management and medication safety, including medication reconciliation. Schnipper’s research on health information technology, diagnostic errors, and home hospital care also made him stand out as a leader in his field.    

At the Brigham, Schnipper serves as director of Clinical Research for the Hospital Medicine Unit, research director of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care, and director of the Harvard-Brigham Research Fellowship in Hospital Medicine.
