Brigham and Women’s Hospital was awarded the American Heart Association’s 2021 Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award. This award honors hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to providing heart failure patients with the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, evidence-based guidelines to improve clinical outcomes and reduce the need for hospital readmissions.
BWH received this accolade by meeting specific performance goals for the evaluation and treatment of hospitalized heart failure patients. Performance metrics evaluated include application of appropriate guideline-directed medications, deployment of appropriate risk-reduction strategies, and delivery of effective patient education and post-discharge follow up.
Get With The Guidelines was developed by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association as a quality improvement initiative to encourage implementation of high quality care for chronic cardiovascular conditions in line with guideline-based recommendations.
