Baer Receives Funding from PCORI for Implementation of an Online Weight Management Program

Heather J. Baer, ScD

Heather J. Baer, ScD, of the Division of General Internal Medicine and Primary Care, received an implementation award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) for her project, “Implementation of an Online Weight Management Program in Clinical and Community Settings.” This project will implement an online weight management program combined with patient navigator support across multiple settings at the Brigham.

PCORI provides funding for implementation projects that promote the use of findings from PCORI-funded studies. Baer’s project focuses on implementing findings from the completed PCORI-funded research project: Testing an Online Program with and without Health Management Support to Help Patients Manage Their Weight.

More broadly, Baer is an Associate Epidemiologist at the Brigham. Her research focuses on the role of lifestyle factors in the etiology and prevention of chronic disease and on strategies for improving management of excess weight gain and obesity.

PCORI is an independent nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, caregivers, and clinicians with the evidence-based information needed to make better-informed health care decisions.
