Ugai Receives Prevent Cancer Foundation Fellowship Award

Tomotaka Ugai, MD, PhD

Tomotaka Ugai, MD, PhD, of the Department of Pathology, won the Prevent Cancer Foundation Fellowship Award for his research project titled, “Immune Characteristics of Early-Onset and Later-Onset Colorectal Cancers.”

This award recognizes innovative projects that demonstrate the potential to make substantial contributions to cancer prevention and early detection.

Ugai is a research fellow in the Ogino MPE laboratory in the Department of Pathology. His project aims to characterize immune cell contents in early-onset and later-onset colorectal cancers and to identify modifiable immunomodulatory factors—substances that alter the immune response —for early-onset colorectal cancer.

Founded in 1985, the Prevent Cancer Foundation is a US-based non-profit organization dedicated to cancer prevention and early detection. The Foundation is committed to providing evidence-based information about how you can prevent cancer or detect it early through healthy lifestyle choices, vaccinations and medical screenings.
