Tomotaka Ugai, MD, PhD, of the Department of Pathology, won the Prevent Cancer Foundation Fellowship Award for his research project titled, “Immune Characteristics of Early-Onset and Later-Onset Colorectal Cancers.”
This award recognizes innovative projects that demonstrate the potential to make substantial contributions to cancer prevention and early detection.
Ugai is a research fellow in the Ogino MPE laboratory in the Department of Pathology. His project aims to characterize immune cell contents in early-onset and later-onset colorectal cancers and to identify modifiable immunomodulatory factors—substances that alter the immune response —for early-onset colorectal cancer.
