Francisco Quintana, PhD, of the Department of Neurology, was awarded the 2022 RAICES Prize for Biological and Health Sciences from Argentina’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. This award is given to distinguished Argentinean scientists residing abroad who have made contributions to strengthening the Argentine scientific system and the bonds of international cooperation.

RAICES, meaning “root” in Spanish, is an acronym for the Network of Argentine Researchers, Scientists and Technologists Abroad Program. Quintana was one of eight awardees honored for their exceptional contributions at a ceremony in Buenos Aires in March.

The Quintana laboratory focuses on characterizing signaling pathways that control the activity of the immunity system, with the goal of identifying novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers for immune-mediated disorders.
