Alimena Awarded FWC Diversity and Inclusion Health Equity Research Grant

Stephanie Alimena, MD

Stephanie Alimena, MD, of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, was honored with a Diversity and Inclusion Health Equity Research Grant from the Foundation for Women's Cancer (FWC). This $75,000 award aims to stimulate research that identifies and endeavors to eradicate disparities in gynecologic cancer care.

Her project, "The Role of Implicit and Explicit Bias in Disparities in Cervical Cancer Care," investigates the possibility that a clinician’s implicit and explicit bias may contribute to well-documented racial, ethnic and geographic disparities in cervical cancer prevention, treatment and mortality.

Alimena is a clinical fellow in gynecologic oncology at the Brigham. Her research interests focus on health disparities and inequity, as well as implementation science and quality improvement work to address these inequities within gynecologic oncology.

The FWC is a nonprofit organization committed to raising public awareness of gynecologic cancer risk awareness, prevention, early detection and optimal treatment.
