Brigham Magazine Honored with AAMC GIA Gold Award for Excellence

Brigham magazine won a Gold Award for Excellence in the Print or Digital Publishing, Single or Special Issues category from the Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA) of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). The award recognizes the most creative and effective approaches used to promote academic medicine through communications. This is the magazine’s second consecutive Gold Award for Excellence from the AAMC GIA.

Six members of the Brigham and Women’s Development Office — John Bach, Rebekah Edwards, Karen Fogerty, Joy Howard, Jennifer Reardon and Lauren Thompson — received this honor for the summer 2023 edition of the magazine, “Care for Every Body: Embracing Inclusive Medicine.” The issue focused on health equity in the medical field and the gender-inclusive care and research of Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The publication included stories about innovative gender-inclusive research methods, the care and research of the Center for Transgender Health and the Brigham’s more than 50-year legacy in providing comprehensive abortion and family planning care, research and education.

Brigham magazine is published annually by the Development Office. The magazine seeks to deepen understandings of how the latest innovations in medicine and science are enabling extraordinary patient care through journalistic storytelling, compelling photography, video, illustration and design.
