Ribbon cutting ceremony celebrates new offerings
Pembroke, MA (Aug. 21, 2020) — Brigham Health Care Center, Pembroke, is now offering new, state-of-the-art mammography services at its location at 15 Corporate Park Drive. This quality care advancement is another example of its commitment to bringing enhanced access to specialty services in the community.
The new mammography location features the newest advances in breast imaging and digital 3D mammography, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, which uses a low-dose X-ray system and computer reconstructions to create 3D images of the breasts.
“Mammography is the most important imaging screening tool for early breast cancer detection,” said Sona Chikarmane, MD, Chief of the Division of Breast Imaging at the Brigham. “All breast imaging will be performed by certified mammography technologists using state-of-the-art 3D equipment and will be read by board-certified, dedicated breast imaging specialists at Brigham Health.”
All Brigham Health mammography units have been licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
“We are thrilled to continue to expand our Brigham Health services to the town of Pembroke and the surrounding communities,” said Peter Grape, MD, Chief, Harbor Medical/BWPO. “Patients can now receive mammography services in addition to primary care and a range of specialty care services in one location for patient convenience.”
Brigham Health Care Center, Pembroke, celebrated the new service it is bringing to the greater Pembroke community with a ceremonial ribbon cutting on August 21. In accordance with Brigham Health’s Safe Care Commitment, the ribbon cutting ceremony was held outside with appropriate physical distancing and masks for all attendees.
