The Essence of Nursing Award is the highest honor presented annually to a Brigham and Women’s Hospital clinical nurse known for the exceptional care, compassion and generosity that he/she provides to patients and their families. The nursing practice of honorees reflects the BWH Nursing Professional Practice Model and our care delivery model, Relationship-based care. Relationship-based care focuses on four critical relationships: with patients and families; with self; with colleagues; and with our diverse communities.
Nominated by peers, educators, patients, families or nursing leaders, the Essence of Nursing Award recognizes clinical nurses whose practice demonstrates advanced skills in the central work of nursing, which is the care of patients and their families. Each year, we publicly acknowledge the many accomplishments of four professional nurse honorees and the Essence of Nursing recipient.
Andrew Bober, BSN, RN, is the recipient of the 2017 Essence of Nursing Award. For more information on the most recent Essence of Nursing award recipient and four honorees, read the May issue of Heart & Science.
