For Hospitalist Patients and Families

The BWH Hospitalist Service cares for inpatients on the General Medicine Service at both Brigham and Women's Hospital and its partner, the Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital. Hospitalist physicians are dedicated to providing high quality and efficient inpatient care as attendings on the medical service and perform medical consultation for other services in the hospital. Since they have no office patient visits, they remain in the hospital all day and can respond to patients' needs at a moment's notice. We place a high priority on communication with patients, families, and referring physicians.

Mission Statement

  1. To promote high quality, efficient, comprehensive, compassionate inpatient care, especially for those who are disenfranchised.
  2. To redefine and improve the standard of inpatient care including seamless communication across multiple settings.
  3. To excel as educators in conveying the principles of evidence based inpatient medicine to students, residents, colleagues, and patients.
  4. To become national leaders in hospitalist medicine and agents of change in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and clinical research.
