Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit

​The Department of Neurosurgery is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients who suffer from critical neurological disorders and trauma. As a state-designated Level 1 Trauma Center for head and spine injuries, the Department provides 24/7 monitoring and care for emergent neurosurgical cases with a multidisciplinary team of specialists.

The Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit is one of the largest in country, and the intensive care specialists care for critically ill patients who suffer from the most common to the most complex neurological disorders. This can range from spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries, to brain infections, seizures, stroke and tumor. Additionally, the intensive care unit provides highly efficient neurotrauma care, including brain tissue oxygen monitoring, cerebral blood flow monitoring, jugular venous saturation monitoring and continuous EEG.
