Community Resources

Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is committed to working closely with medical, social and educational resources in the communities we serve. Our licensed clinical social workers help patients and families deal with personal issues while they are at BWH, particularly those related to medical concerns. When it is time to return home, social workers help ease the transition by referring patients to supportive resources in the community.

In addition, BWH’s Center for Community Health and Health Equity (CCHHE) collaborates with community groups and organizations to develop programs that meet the health care needs of nearby diverse communities, such as Mission Hill, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan and Dorchester. We have successfully implemented programs aimed at reducing violence, improving birth outcomes, increasing rates of colorectal cancer screening, and advancing education opportunities for young people.

Support Groups

Brigham and Women’s Hospital provides many support groups for a range of needs at our Boston location, at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center.
