The Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA) is holding a strike at BWH beginning on July 8. The hospital is open and we will continue to ensure high-quality, safe patient care for the five-day work stoppage. You may notice heavier traffic near the main campus due to picketing, so please consider allowing extra time when traveling to and from appointments. Learn more

Ultrasound

Mary Catherine Frates, MDMary Catherine Frates, MD
Service Chief, Ultrasound
Vice Chair, Radiology

The BWH Department of Radiology provides ultrasound services at the hospital main campus at Faulkner Hospital, and at community-based locations throughout eastern Massachusetts. Across this network, our technologists and radiologists use state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment to produce high-quality images while focusing on patient safety and comfort.

Ultrasound uses sound waves to examine your body and can be used to diagnose abnormalities and to guide interventional procedures, such as thyroid biopsies.

Your doctor can select the BWH location that is closest to you or that offers the most convenient appointment for you.
