Individuals must be 16 years of age to become a BWH volunteer. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of at least six months of service.
Most volunteer positions require weekday, daytime availability, however, we do have a few evening and week-end placements. BWH volunteers assist staff in many departments throughout the hospital, such as, but not limited to Central Transport, Wayfinding, Book Cart, and assisting with non-clinical duties on inpatient floors.
Volunteer applicants are required to attend New Volunteer Orientation (NVO), complete application materials, submit to a HireRight background check, provide two professional or academic references, interview with the OSSVS Program and Training Coordinator, and be cleared medically by BWH Occupational Health Services prior to beginning volunteer placement in the hospital.
The links below provide the NVO schedule and complete instructions on getting started.
We look forward to you becoming a member of the BWH volunteer team.
