General volunteers must be 16 years of age in order to become a BWH volunteer. Volunteers are asked to make a commitment of at least six months of service.
Most volunteer positions require weekday, daytime, availability; however, we do have a few evening and week-end placements. BWH volunteers assist staff in many departments throughout the hospital, such as, but not limited to, the BWH Gift Shop, Patient and Family Relations, Central Transport, Outpatient Infusion, Pathology and the Breast Center.
Volunteer applicants are required to attend New Volunteer Orientation (NVO), complete application materials, submit to a CORI check, be cleared through BWH Occupational Health Services, provide two professional references and interview with the OSSVS Program and Training Coordinator prior to receiving a volunteer placement in the hospital.
The links below provide the NVO schedule and complete instructions on getting started.
We look forward to you becoming a member of the BWH volunteer team.
